What Is OCAJI?

The Overseas Construction Association of Japan, Inc. (OCAJI) is composed of leading construction companies in Japan, and provides support in the development of overseas activities by Japanese construction companies and the promotion of international cooperation as a representative incorporated association.

The Association aims to support Japanese construction companies in implementing overseas projects, making international contributions through the construction industry's activities, and promoting international exchange and cooperation with other countries.

OCAJI Projects

  • Improvement of overseas business environment for construction companies

    Improvement of overseas business environment for construction companies OCAJI has been improving the overseas business environment for construction companies by promoting exchanges with other countries in the construction field and helping Japanese construction companies smoothly implement overseas projects in closer cooperation with the national government and related organizations through the exchange and sharing of information.

  • Collection and provision of information

    Collection and provision of information OCAJI collects information useful for overseas construction activities through a network of overseas branch offices, related organizations such as the domestic and overseas agencies concerned, JICA, and other related organizations and international financial institutions; and quickly disseminates the information to its members and numerous organizations concerned via e-mail and journals.

  • Information gathering and analysis through international interaction

    Information gathering and analysis through international interaction OCAJI has been actively interacting with international organizations and construction groups in other countries in order to promote cooperation and mutual understanding with those countries through the construction industry. The Association accepts missions from other countries and exchanges information and opinions with foreign embassies in Japan. OCAJI is a member of the International Federation of Asian & Western Pacific Contractors’Associations (IFAWPCA) composed of construction groups in 16 countries and regions, representing Japan, and has been exchanging information with and transmitting information to construction companies and groups in other countries.

  • Sending and accepting overseas research teams

    Sending and accepting overseas research teams OCAJI sends diverse research teams in cooperation with its members, consulting industries and related organizations in order to investigate new discoveries and form excellent overseas projects, investigate new infrastructure markets, and conduct investigations related to support for the construction industry when expanding overseas, investigations contributing to technological transfers to and industrial cooperation with developing countries, and investigations concerning the facts, issues and construction institutions related to Japan’s ODA (official development assistance) projects. The Association also accepts inspection and investigation teams from other countries.

  • Research and studies

    Research and studies In order to accelerate the management of diverse risks affecting the overseas construction business, development of new markets, discovery and formation of first-rate projects, and smooth implementation of ODA projects, OCAJI conducts research and studies mainly by organizing various research conferences (contract management, grant, Long-term Loan, Africa, China, India and Middle East).

  • Holding seminars and training workshops in and outside Japan

    Holding seminars and training workshops in and outside Japan OCAJI regularly holds monthly seminars, overseas staff training courses, seminars concerning the contract management of overseas construction work and joint seminars with foreign law firms by intellectuals in various fields and Japanese and foreign experts based on systematic curricula in order to spread and advance knowledge about overseas construction activities. The Association also holds seminars in its overseas branch offices under pragmatic and practical themes for its members and the staff of related businesses working overseas.
