【Introduction of the project】
Haiti was the first country in the Caribbean to achieve independence, but due to the political turmoil that lasted from the late 1990s to around 2005, added to the large earthquake that occurred in 2010 near the capital Port-Prince, the development of the road network has been delayed and major infrastructure have been deteriorated. Since the capital area was severely damaged during the mentioned earthquake, the country's government is moving forward with the decentralization of functions to regional areas. This project will replace two bridges on National Route No. 1 and its bypass road in the Tabaré and Cité Soleil districts of Port-au-Prince. This project aims to improve the performance and safety of bridges and contribute to post-earthquake social and economic development, including regional development in the northern and central regions.
